http://www.bluesup.com/ Show time: 3:50-4:25 Rev. Rabia was born to sing the blues. Her performances are powerful blend of righteous guitar picking and sensuous, raspy vocals. She takes the urban bluesout of bars and back into the fields and backwoods juke joints.
The RELYKS Show time: 4:40-5:15 Veteran Musicians from the east bay. This four piece ensemble aims to please even the most discriminating musical palate, a poparie of styles for your dancing pleasure.
Nichole Cheri & the Groundbreakers http://www.nicholecheri.com/src/about.htm Show time: 5:30-6:10 This San Francisco Bay Area group consists of featured singer, 4 time California State Vocal Champion Nichole Cheri and 4 seasoned musicians who have worked from N.Y. to California with Such great names as BB. King, Tommy Castro, The Tramps, The Drifters, Chaka Kahn,The Buckinghams, The Coasters and Billy Joel. The band explodes onstage with Nichole Cheri performing a non-stop variety of music styles from the 40’s right up to today and accents the show with the GroundBreakers performing only the best Classic Rock and Original selections. With a voice that combines the textured tone quality of Karen Carpenter and the soulful energy of Gloria Estefan, Nichole Cheri sparks the attention of her audiences. They have compared her powerful performances to Patsy Cline,Linda Ronstadt, Avril Lavingne and Aretha Franklin, and are always anxious to get autographs of her pictures and the band's newly released CD.
THE SYMPTOMS Show time: 6:25-7:00 They're back...original line up of the SYMPTOMS a SF Punk band from '79. They can still leave the stage blazing. Back in the day they were a band that derived their sound from many sources but copied no one. Not just any punk band but one that draws from diverse musical influences from reggae to jazz. Not much has change except their hairlines.
Flying Venus http://www.flyingvenus.com/bio.html Show time: 7:15-7:50 BURLESQUE ROCK EATS ATTITUDE. They sound like the B52s and the Mamas and the Papas meet in the Red Light District for ice cream. Add keyboards, dancing girls in fishnets with a Jim Morrison edge, and you’ve got the sound of Flying Venus. Just as the songs demonstrate an uncanny diversity, the members mirror that as age ranges, ethnic backgrounds, and sexual preferences are all represented. John Mazzei’s smokin’ keyboards hint of Herbie Hancock goes rock, B.C. Cliver screams on lead guitar with enough crunch to make even the Captain jealous. Xavier Guerrero can make his bass sing like Jaco Pastorius and hit like Green Day. Fred Harris goes wild on the drums with an intensity that will not let you sit still. Dori Petrie adds the sweet and sexy – sweet, blended backup vocals, combined with hard dancing. Top it off with Jean Mazzei’s song writing, vocals that growl as much as they do soar, and an onstage presence similar to a cherry bomb. Throw it in a blender and you’ve got a chemical reaction that turns into FV’s “burlesque rock.â€
